Buddy / Instructor Educational Program
The Buddy/Instructor Program is for certified divers who are interested in gathering experience in diving with people with reduced efficiencies. They will learn what reduced efficiency means, how it affects people and how to support and help people with special needs when diving and travelling. This includes:
* divers who want to buddy a RED-diver
* diving professionals who want to guide/instruct RED-divers and their buddies
* social workers or teachers who want to optimise their underwater experiences.
The program offers new ways in occupational therapy, rehabilitation and social interaction. The participants will learn about the special challenges arising when working with people with special needs, and will be shown how to implement therapeutic diving and diving as therapy into their clubs and organisations.

The participants will learn to accompany divers with special needs and to develop appropriate training programs. They will learn to develop various underwater games and adventures
which can be used as therapy, including simulating exercises (paraplegia, tetraplegia, blindness) in both swimming pool and open water practical training exercises.
People who are already certified Diving Instructors (with any recognized diver training organisation), will also learn about the PDA standards and marketing concept.
After passing the final exams, the participants will be awarded the RED-Master-Buddy certificate. For people who are already certified Diving Instructors, this means they are qualified to teach disabled divers and people who want to buddy a disabled diver. |
