DAY5: KUMASI TO CAPE COAST & ELMINA
Today marks our journey from Kumasi to the historic coastal towns of Cape Coast and Elmina. After breakfast, we'll depart from Kumasi and travel towards the captivating shores of the Atlantic Ocean.
Our first stop will be Cape Coast, a significant hub of Ghana's colonial history and home to the infamous Cape Coast Castle. This UNESCO World Heritage Site served as a major hub for the transatlantic slave trade, and our visit will offer profound insights into this dark chapter of human history.
Continuing our exploration, we'll proceed to Elmina, where the majestic Elmina Castle stands as another poignant reminder of Ghana's past. This centuries-old fortress, built by the Portuguese in the 15th century, played a central role in the transatlantic slave trade and is now recognized as one of the oldest European buildings in existence south of the Sahara.
Throughout the day, we'll have the opportunity to reflect on the profound historical significance of these sites and pay tribute to the resilience of those who endured unimaginable hardship. Our journey will offer moments of introspection and remembrance, as well as opportunities to appreciate the beauty and resilience of the Ghanaian people.

DAY 6: ELMINA CASTLE AND ELMINA FISHING BAY
After breakfast, we will check out of the hotel at 9:00 am to embark on a poignant visit to Elmina Castle, formerly known as St. George's Castle. This architectural marvel stands as the first European building constructed in Sub-Saharan Africa. Within its walls, we will explore the verdant gardens and delve into the historically eerie chambers that bear witness to centuries of profound human experiences.
Our journey will lead us to the beach, where we will gather for a solemn memorial service. In a symbolic gesture of remembrance, we will collectively toss bread into the sea to honor the memory of our ancestors who endured the harrowing journey of the middle passage. A moment of silence will be observed to pay tribute to those who perished, followed by the solemn tossing of a wreath adorned with a candle into the vast expanse of the ocean.
Next, we will partake in the Fihankra ritual within the confines of the castle. This ritual holds the profound intention of reuniting individuals of African heritage with their ancestral homeland, from which they were forcibly separated by the transatlantic slave trade. Through ceremonial practices, returnees are granted the opportunity to reconnect with their cultural and spiritual roots, which had been severed for generations. As the culminating aspect of Fihankra, a naming ceremony will be conducted at the Chief's palace, symbolizing a powerful reclamation of identity and heritage.

Today marks the beginning of an emotionally profound journey that will leave an indelible mark on your soul.
