A Venezuela kitesurfing holiday is idyllic with perfect flat lagoons, warm shallow waters, and gorgeous beaches of the Caribbean Sea. The islands of Margarita, Isla Coche and Los Roques are located just off the North coast of Venezuela and the airport at the Caracas which serve islands. These should be your Venezuela kitesurf locations of choice and each Island has plenty of good hotels offering all inclusive to room only options. .
All three of the islands have great lagoons to play in, which are perfect for beginners and freestyle riding. The trade winds in this region are very consistent, average speeds reaching in excess of 30mph. With annual air temperatures of 26 – 28+ degrees heating the water, you will only need board shorts. The predominant wind direction on the smaller Isla Coche creates offshore riding conditions but rescue boats are available if needed. The shallow, super flat waters will you with confidence.
You will fly into Caracas and then get a smaller plane to connect to one of the three islands smaller island’s of Coche and Los Roques are quiet and have a laid back Caribbean vibe, perfect for couples. Los Roques is normally visited from the other islands but it is worth the trip to kite in the National Park or catch waves on the barrier reef. You will never be too far away from a kitesurf beach or at least a friendly local to show you where they are. Los Roques’ hotels are located a little distance from the kitesurf spots. It is best to check with your tour operator about getting to the locations.
Margarita is the largest and most developed of the islands and if you want to have a lively kitesurfing holiday in Venezuela this would be a good choice. Margarita has the best equipped schools and well stocked rental equipment. This is where most people will make their Venezuelan kitesurf base camp. Trips to the other islands are arranged from the kite schools or from your hotel.
