But what is mountain biking? In its most simple form it is riding a bike off-road. This includes everything from dirt tracks to cycle paths and man made trails with jumps and obstacles to flat routes in the countryside.

A bike for MTB is different to road bikes or standard bikes. Typically mountain bikes have a more robust frame, knobbly tyres and wider handlebars. They usually have many gears, and most have front suspension and quite a lot have rear suspension too.

But there are many different types of mountain biking each with slightly different bikes. From freeride to freestyle, enduro to eMTB and downhill to dirt jumping, there is something for everyone. And everyone rides how they want, be it extreme jumps or a flat canal path you are still mountain biking.
