You won’t be a spectator, but will learn key skills and begin to use them as you trim sails, winch sheets and try your hand on the helm. (Andy, steering the yacht in the photo above, had never set foot on a yacht until 2 hours earlier – that could be you!).

Learn to tack, gybe and trim the sails for different points of sailing as we slice through the water.

As we motor up the river at the conclusion of your experience, enjoy refreshments and the sites of the Yarra River.

Australia 4-hour Sailing Experience in Melbourne: Itinerary

After a safety briefing we depart Melbourne's Docklands, and motor down the Yarra and into the Bay. On the way you are introduced to some key principles of sailing, and learn how to safely use a winch. Out on the Bay you will hoist the sails and experience upwind sailing, tacking, downwind sailing and gybing, as you trim the sails and enjoy the breeze. Then get up 'on the rail' and pretend you are part of the crew racing to Hobart. Everyone gets a go on the helm. and our expert teachers will have you sailing in no time. Enjoy refreshments as we head back up the Yarra to our berth in Victoria Harbour.
