Go Wild for a day! On this 6 hour tour you will explore the tidal waters of the Salish Sea, the channels and inlets around the Discovery Islands and the Johnstone Strait. The fast moving currents offer a nutrient rich environment that attracts a wide variety of wildlife to the area creating a perfect opportunity to observe the natural behaviour of humpback whales and killer whales in the wild. Memorable encounters with Porpoises, Pacific White-Sided Dolphins, Steller Sea Lions, Bears and Eagles are commonly experienced while out on this tour.
When viewing wildlife in the wild – you can never be guaranteed all of these animals on every tour, But, Campbell River Whale Watching are renowned for taking pride in each of their tours and taking every opportunity to educate and show their guests as much as possible while out on the water.
Lunch is included and you have a choice of vessel type for this adventure: A covered vessel with indoor seating and space outside for viewing and stretching your legs – a great choice for families and suitable for all ages. If you like the exhilaration of being in the open air and closer to the water with the wind blowing through your hair an open zodiac may be your preferred choice.
The minimum age for this tour is 4 years old. If travelling with young children we recommend that you contact the office to discuss whether this would be a suitable tour for your younger family members.

Your journey begins at the Campbell River Whale Watching & Adventure Tours Floathouse. This is where you check-in no less than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. On arrival you can expect a safe and genuinely friendly, fun and inclusive environment.
A Pre-boarding welcome & safety briefing from your Captain will give you an overview of the general area you will be travelling through and the marine mammals that you may encounter.
Once underway you will travel along pristine coastlines, protected calm channels and narrow passages of water between the Discovery Islands in search of humpback whales, orca and other marine mammals. The beautiful scenery captivating you almost as much as the wildlife you encounter.
Your Captain is also a trained naturalist so you can expect to enjoy regular fun and informative nature interpretation throughout your adventure.
Part way through your adventure, you will stop and enjoy a locally sourced picnic style lunch onshore with homemade treats and hot beverages and water. After which you will continue your adventure.
Last but not least – onboard washrooms even on the zodiacs!
