Guide to Tenerife snowboarding holidays

If you search the internet, you will fine Tenerife snowboarding rumours. Rumours of riding pow on a volcano in tropical ski resort on Tenerife one of the Canary Islands off the coast of Africa.

Tenerife is dominated by the Pico del Teide volcano, it’s summit sits at 3818 meters high above sea level and regularly receives snow. Unfortunately, rumours of a thriving ski resort on Tenerife are false. There is no ski resort here but with a mountain and snow snowboarding Tenerife is technically possible.

To do so wait for some snow then take the cable car up the volcano and hike to the summit. You can then try to ride down. Try is the operative word as most reports say the snow is more rocky than snowy for most of the year. After a dump of fresh snow I still wouldn’t fancy it as jagged volcanic rocks will be hidden just below the snow ready to wreck your pride and joy….

Tenerife is a great place to go for a holiday and if you feel the need to travel sideways on a board we recommend you check out surfing, kitesurfing or wakeboarding in Tenerife. If snowboarding is the only sideways sport you want to do then head to Sierra Nevada mountain range for the closest ski resort and at least you will get to enjoy snowboarding in Spain.

Tenerife is serviced by two airports,  North and South which connect to multiple European cities and the rest of the world. A Tererife snowboarding holiday may not be possible but it is a great place to visit particularly if you get away from the main tourist resorts.
