Itinerary
Itinerary for the North Wales 8 day multi-activity adventure holiday
Day 1.
Welcome to Beaumaris. Once you\'ve settled into your hotel, your guide will welcome you with a briefing, then the afternoon is yours to relax and explore this historic town.
At one time Wales had over 600 castles and today 100 of those still stand, either in ruins or restored. One of the most impressive is Beaumaris Castle with its ‘walls within walls’ design. Take the afternoon to explore this fascinating historic town and its magnificent castle at your own leisure. Check out the local bars and restaurants in the evening.
Day 2.
Ready to explore the island of Anglesey by sea and by land? This morning you’ll head out on a RIB power boat to discover the hidden gems of Wales\' rugged coastline and the native wildlife that inhabits it. Be sure to keep an eye out for puffins, seals and dolphins that can be seen along these shores.
Once you\'re back on dry land, this afternoon you\'ll take to the road and travel around the island’s small villages to explore the local culture. Visit some of its many lighthouses and soak up the views of countryside and seashore. Discover how this rural island is a coastal retreat for all sorts of native wildlife.
We\'ll host dinner this evening for you and your group in a local restaurant. How better to get to know each other better than reflecting on today\'s memories, while enjoying locally produced food and a few Welsh beers.
Day 3.
Snowdon mountain is the jewel in the crown of Snowdonia National Park. Standing at 1,085m it\'s the highest mountain in England and Wales. The views from its summit are spectacular on a clear day. Today is a full day of hiking to reach the peak of this impressive, rocky landmark. Breathe the crisp mountain air and soak up the stunning panoramic views.
There is a cafe at the summit providing refreshments and light meals so you can replenish your energy before we embark on the descent back to base.
With several routes leading to Snowdon\'s summit, we have plenty of options to choose from. Our guide will ensure we take the best circular route for the group and the weather on the day. Their local knowledge means you\'ll enjoy the best mountain experience.
Day 4.
Pack your bags, you’re heading inland today to begin your time in the hills and woodlands of North Wales. In the safe hands of our local expert, here you\'ll learn foraging and bushcraft skills. Discover how to source delicious ingredients from the landscape around you and rediscover your inner self.
Your bushmaster guide will show you how to prepare and cook a delicious meal around an open campfire. Relax into the evening, toasting marshmallows and sharing stories with your travel-mates, before retiring to your bell tent for a cosy night under the stars.
Day 5.
Emerge from your cosy canvas canopy to enjoy a hearty breakfast. Feeling truly rewilded, you\'ll be set to continue your discovery of Wales with a short drive to our next location: the picturesque riverside town of Llangollen.
Once you\'ve checked into your hotel, take the afternoon to relax and explore the pretty streets of this historic Welsh town. Check out its many cafes and pubs, and its famous steam train. The River Dee runs right through the heart of the town, providing the perfect photo opportunity and a beautiful spot to enjoy some traditional fish and chips.
Optional activity:
Alternatively if you’re feeling more energetic, join us on a short canoe trip over the Pontcyscllte aqueduct this afternoon. Completed in 1808, the innovative engineering of the aqueduct led to it being designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At over 38m high it\'s the highest in the world and the view from it is spectacular - if you dare look down! It’s a truly unique way to view the surrounding countryside.
Cost: £45 per person
Day 6.
Pull on your hiking boots and get ready to explore nearby Eglwyseg Mountain on a guided walk. With its dramatic limestone escarpment, several bronze-age burial mounds and many species of rare bird there’s plenty to look out for. Buzzards, Peregrine Falcons and Merlins are all commonly sighted birds of prey, so keep your eye out for something big flying overhead!
You\'ll pass through the scenic valley head known locally as World’s End and take on a section of the famous Offa’s Dyke Path, breaking for a picnic lunch with stunning views of the panorama.
Day 7.
For your final morning of discovery, you’ll be rafting down the beautiful River Dee. Forming part of the border between England and Wales, the river supports many rare plants and animals along its banks and within its waters.
Atlantic salmon is the dominant fish species and is in part the reason for the Dee being designated a European Special Area of Conservation. You’ll also find the rare freshwater pearl mussel here and, if you’re very lucky, a rare glimpse of the European otter.
Exploring the river by raft is a great way to get up close and personal with riverlife. Your local rafting guide will help you navigate the river’s rapids and weirs, and show you how to spot wildlife along the way.
Day 8.
After breakfast at the hotel, it\'s time to pack your case and swap details with your new friends.
