Itinerary

Overnight Zambezi white water rafting holiday: Itinerary.

Day 1:

Pick up 9.00 am from your accommodation and transfer to our check-in spot (or shopping for alcoholic drinks, if needed), next to the Zambian side of the Victoria Falls. Your guide will give you a complete trip briefing regarding the logistics and the safety of the trip. Your gear for the overnight will be loaded onto our vehicles and transferred to our evening campsite.

After the briefing you will be given a life jacket, paddle and helmet and you’ll start walking down the trail to the Boiling Pot, directly beneath the Victoria Falls where your rafts and guides will be waiting for you.
We start right above rapid #1 where we paddle across the boiling pot towards the Victoria Falls. We get out of the rafts right underneath the Falls! The rock faces tower more than a hundred metres all around you; cascades of water tumble down from where the black basalt meets the blue sky.
This is an unforgettable adventure right in the heart of one of the most beautiful places on earth!

After practicing your paddling and getting used to your guide’s quick commands, you will start rafting from rapid #1 to rapid #21 (25kilometers). Some world class rapids will be tackled on the river today, #4 Morning Glory, #5 Stairway to heaven, #6 Devil’s toilet bowl, #7 Gulliver’s travel, #8 Midnight Dinner, #11 Overland truck eater, #13 the Mother, #15 the Washing machine, #18 Oblivion…
At mid-day we will stop below rapid #10 to take a break and have Lunch.

Upon arrival on the beach at rapid #21, the camp will be ready, and you will be welcomed by our staff with cold drinks and snacks. Dinner will be served around a camp fire on the beach.
Overnight in tents on the beach. (Mosquito proof tents and mattresses provided – Please bring your own sleeping bag or hire out from us)

Day 2:

Tea, coffee and breakfast will be prepared by our staff.

We will experience a few challenging grade 5 rapids like, « Open Season », « Narrows 1 and 2 », « Chimamba falls » and « Upper Moemba ». But progressively, as you drift downstream, the tranquil pools in between the rapids will become longer, giving you more time to enjoy the splendour of the Batoka gorge. Depending on water levels the guide may decide to portage one or two rapids for safety reasons.

We will have lunch at mid-day on the side of the river.

Overnight in tents on the beach. (Mosquito proof tents, and thermorest mattresses provided – Please bring your own sleeping bag)

Day 3:

Wake up, breakfast on the beach, swimming.
We will raft a short section up to Lower Moemba.
Start our walk to the top of the gorge, where a magnificent view and cold drinks will be waiting at the top of the gorge. Please note the walk up the gorge is physically demanding.
