Everyone loves a good rank; a top 10, 3 of the best, top 5, 100 must do’s etc. Ranking can inspire, generate debate, or leave readers accusing the ranker of ranking too often. So today we have decided to rank for you the top 10 sport and adventure top 10s.
Please take this rank with a bucket load of salt. It is not meant to be serious, but a tongue in cheek look at ranking. So expect sporting and adventure top 10s that are high on subjectivity and low on quantifiable rankability.
Why? Well there is nothing better than a top 10 that is someone’s personal option, something they have deliberated over for weeks and spent hours writing and perfecting. Only for some ranker with a different opinion to claim it is a load of rank.
Of course it goes the other way too. Many top 10s are produced by rankers who have no knowledge of the topic. They have a quick rank and produce a list that is devoid of real information. So in this top 10 sport and adventure top 10s I will highlight ranks I enjoyed and those i did not, plus explain where the ranker went right or wrong.
Again please don’t take this top 10 sport and adventure top 10s too seriously. It’s meant as light entertainment, coupled with rampant ranking. If it sparks a debate then great, if it creates insulting comments even better, but to be honest I just fancied a good old rank.

Top 10 sport and adventure top 10s
Without further ado it is time to start ranking.
1. Most emotional moments in UK sport by ACS
This article ranks top emotional moments in British sport. It includes sporting moments such as football and rugby World Cup wins, reclaiming the Ashes, iconic Olympic moments and winning the David Cup.
For me there are lots of happy sporting memories included that remind me of watching sports and teams I love – perfect. It’s also high on subjectivity, for example, including two Liverpool results and nothing for Man Utd. As a Liverpool fan myself, this is subjectivity at it’s best.

2. Top 10 adventure sports by Ask Men
This article ranks various adventure sports with the idea being you can get your exercise while doing something exciting. This is a concept I love, but unfortunately the article appears to be written by a ranker that has never actually done any of the adventure sports.
I have tried all but one of the sports on the list, and there is an obvious lack of knowledge by the ranker whose chosen the top 10. Lacking in real information and authority on the topic it makes this article a great example of how not to rank.
Have a laugh statements such as Hang Gliding ‘try this is you like skiing’ in this ‘definitive’ top 10 adventure sports by the Ask Men rankers.
3. Best water sport locations in the UK by TOAD
This is a well researched and useful rank by the UK activity specialists at TOAD. Have a read and not only will you learn what are some of the best locations for watersports in the UK, but which activities you can do there, all with plenty of useful links.

4. Best places to skydive and bungee Jump by the Telegraph
As with anything on the Telegraph this is well written and researched article with useful links. Even if the ranker does not know about the skydiving or bungee it has not come across that way.
But it falls down because of the 14 destinations included in the rank, you can skydive and bungee jump in just three of them. In the rest either skydiving or bungee jumping is possible, so the article left me disappointed as I was expecting to find places I could do both.

5. 10 things not to miss in Les 2 Alpes by Alpine Elements
If you really focus on your ranking the result is far more pleasing. Take this top 10 by Alpine Elements for example. It provides useful information for anyone heading to Les 2 Alpes for a ski or snowboarding holiday for the first time.
Although a little light on info, it is a quick informative read. It’s clearly written by a ranker who has been there and has knowledge to share.

6. Best sport watches by Men’s Fitness
This failed attempt at ranking is because the website is so advert heavy that I just don’t want to look at it. Things are popping up everywhere, videos are starting to play and the page takes ages to load.
To make things worse, to read this rank I will have to click on an almost hidden arrow to view each page separately. Meaning, I will have to go through the above advert explosion multiple times. I leave without reading what may have been great content.

7. Mistakes every beginner snowboarder makes by Mpora
This is a great example of how images can help when ranking. Mpora have gone for few words combined with funny pictures. Beginner snowboarders are not going to learn anything, but experienced snowboarders will have a good laugh.

8. Video of the 10 best goals ever via YouTube
I had to include at least one video ranking. The problem for this budding ranker is it’s a hugely subjective topic, there is fan loyalty to contend with, and the small matter that they can’t have watched every goal. But he has not helped himself with his selection – one of the comments says ‘worst top 10 goals ever’, which really says it all.

9. & 10. An unfinished rank
As with many attempts at ranking, I have run out of steam towards the end of this top 10 sport and adventure top 10s. But this is to make the point, that whether you rank top to bottom or bottom to top, for a good rank you need to finish the job.
So I think I’ve covered all the common problems associated with ranking, I have given examples from other ranks and then applied them in this attempt at ranking. Before I go one more tip, don’t rank too often or you could go blind.
We hope you enjoyed this top 10 sport and adventure top 10s, and have added some articles to your rank bank. We are not exactly prolific rankers, but you can check out our top 10s here.
