Les Arcs has always been one of my favourite ski areas. It is part of the huge Paradiski with 425 km of slopes, much of which is above 2,000 metres making it snow sure. I stayed in Arc 1950 in my early days of snowboarding and have returned summer and winter, seven times in the last 15 years trying out 1800, 1600 and 2000. So when I heard about sporty Les Arcs in March I had to share it!

It is not the first time I have written about sports events in Les Arcs. In fact part of my soft spot for the ski area is due to the Les Arcs Great British Celebration, which won me a podium finish in the snowboard slalom and a French Mountains Media Award. So when I hear about sporting events in Les Arcs, I get a little sentimental…

Sporty Les Arcs in March

Throughout March, Les Arcs switches itself into sports mode with four big sports events happening one after another. A night ascent, an alpine race, a snow trail race, a solidarity challenge…all perfect opportunities to celebrate a passion for sport at altitude.

7th March – LA BELLE AVENTURE

La Belle Aventure offers participants a unique night ski touring experience. In a friendly, non-competitive atmosphere, participants climb toward the summits for a gourmet break before descending to Arc 1800 by headlamp. A moment of pure escape, where the pleasure of effort blends with the beauty of the winter landscape.

12th – 14th March – L’ÉTOILE D’OR

For three days, the Tétras area in Arc 1800 will come alive with alpine ski competitions, becoming a true showcase for young talents aged 9 to 14. In a spirit that is both competitive and friendly, these rising ski stars will compete in giant slalom and parallel slalom events.

20th March – LES ARCS STAR TRAIL

The Les Arcs Star Trail invites runners to take on a unique challenge: a night time snow race starting from Arc 1800, deep in the ski area, covering 11 kilometres with 500 metres of positive elevation gain. An original way to combine sport, nature, and breathtaking scenery.

29th March – LA COURSE DU CŒUR

To close this sporty month, La Course du Cœur is a 750km running relay race. This unique event links Paris to Bourg Saint Maurice over four days and four nights in relay format, raising awareness about organ donation. Upon arrival, runners are welcomed by residents, holidaymakers, and local teams in a great wave of solidarity.

Les Arcs: Sporting Energy & Solidarity

By celebrating sport in all its forms — performance, pleasure, solidarity — the Les Arcs resort affirms its identity as a sporty and caring resort. These March events embody a shared philosophy: living the mountains differently, and together.
