When snowboarders first hit the slopes skiers were not happy to be sharing the mountains. There is still a little antagonism between the sideways and forward snow sliders but most people accept it is all just sliding in snow.
The mainstream acceptance of snowboarding was in 1998 when it became a Winter Olympic sport. Since then it has gone onto to change the face of winter sports.
