Hawaii Lifeguard Surf Instructors is a Hawaiian Surfing School operating since the 1990s.

Team HLSI is proud to offer the only surfing classroom on the island for students to practice surf skills, increasing the successful board stories before paddling out.

Surfing lessons starting at age 3 years and older.
Open 7 days a week
Operating out of Kailua-Kona on the Island of Hawaii.

We welcome you and invite you to learn the ancient sport of our past Hawaiian royalty. Surfing was once reserved only for men of royal status in the Hawaiian Islands. Planks carved and rounded at each end were made from solid Hawaiian hardwood called Koa. These boards were used to master the waves formed over the treterous Hawaiian reefs. These waves were especially prevalent during the winter seasons which bring deep ocean swells to the coastlines of the Hawaiian Islands.

Today we proudly share our culture and the history of surfing with all ages and skill levels.
