Guide to Brazil sailing breaks

Brazil’s long Atlantic coastline is a great place for sailors. There is much to explore, with long wild, untouched stretches contrasted with the busy ports of the country’s many coastal cities. The climate is generally forgiving, and both crewed and bareboat charters are on offer, as well as plenty of yacht cruises. Take a Brazil sailing trip and see this beautiful country from the water.

Brazil is a huge, vibrant melting pot, with people from several cultures mingling with others from across the globe. It is also home to large areas of wilderness. Much of its coastline looks and feels similar to that of the Caribbean, but is far less developed. Brazil also escapes the Caribbean hurricane season. It’s usually possible to sail somewhere at any time of year in Brazil, with warm temperatures most of the year.

Brazil’s many big coastal cities make great bases for sailing holiday. Rio, Recife, Sao Paolo, Florianoplois and others are ideal places to begin your trip and to stock up on supplies and fuel.

The real joy of Brazilian sailing comes in exploring its less-travelled waters, though. Try the Bay of Kings near Rio. This group of several hundred islands might be just a stone’s throw from the big city, but it is a wonderful place to explore on a boat. Hop between the islands and enjoy empty beaches and clear water. Northern Brazil’s coast is the country’s least developed, and offers the opportunity for a extra-special trip into the mouth of the Amazon.

Take a Brazil sailing trip and enjoy this vast country’s fascinating coastline. With variety and a warm welcome everywhere you sail, it’s hard not to fall in love with Brazil from a boat.
