This rich and varied programme guarantees a lovely introduction to hiking the spectacular Tatras region in Slovakia (The Price advertised is based on two people sharing a hotel room). It takes you to the most breathtaking and popular places of the region, whilst unveiling authentic local life and the of course, the jagged and beautiful Tatra peaks.

We want you to come and share our region, benefit from the grandest peaks to the smallest streams, to imbue the fresh mountain air whilst taking in the epic vistas of our unique landscape. We believe sport plus travel is the best way to see as much of our region in the shortest space of time and this guide will inspire you to visit. Integrate, regenerate, rebalance and enjoy your time in the Tatras & Liptov Region as our honoured guest.

The accommodation will be provided in a 3-star hotel offering great quality (Villa Siesta or similar). The exact hotel selected for you, will be announced along with the confirmation of the request. The programme includes accommodation in family-run hotels with strategic locations and on half-board basis.

Day to day itinerary for beginner Slovakia hiking holiday in the Tatras Region.

The accommodation will be provided in the same hotel for the whole stay.

DAY 1 ARRIVAL
Starý Smokovec
On the day of the arrival a local representative will visit the clients, introducing them to the region and to explain the details of the itinerary. The local representative will be available by phone during the whole stay.

DAY 2
HIGH TATRAS: Starý Smokovec – Hrebienok – Zamkovského hut – Skalnaté Pleso-Tatranská Lomnica – Starý Smokovec
Take a walk from the hotel to the station of the cable railway in ‘Stary Smokovec’ for a short ride to Hrebienok – the starting point of many hiking trails. From here your Hiking Experience begins to the nearby ‘Bilikova Hut’ (follow the green sign) to the cascades of the Cold creek´s waterfalls. Continue to a forest glade (cca 20 minutes from the waterfalls) “Starolesnianska Polana” where the oldest mountain hut of the High Tatras – the ‘Rainer´s Hut’ can be found. Follow the red sign and hike about 90 minutes on the most popular hiking trail of the Tatras to Skalnate Pleso mountain tarn (lake). A few minutes before reaching Skalnate Pleso mountain tarn we advise to have a break at ‘Skalnata Hut’ – a typical mountain hut along the way (some of the mountain huts in the High Tatras are catered by “sherpas”. The original cottage owner of the ‘Skalnata Hut’ (known as the ‘father of today´s cottage) has won the “sherpas´contest” by carrying 207.5 kg from the valley to the mountain cottage. The certificate and photo is displayed at the cottage.

Skalnate Pleso (mountain tarn/ lake) is the place where you will find the start of the iconic red cable car which takes people to the legendary ‘Lomnicky Peak’ (Slovakia´s second highest peak). Walk around the tarn, visit the observatory, and take your time snapping some spectacular photos. You then take the cable car down to Tatranska Lomnica and enjoy spending some time in one of the most popular mountain villages of the High Tatras. Once you have enjoyed some quality time in Tatranska Lomnica take the electric train to return to the hotel in Stary Smokovec.

DAY 3 of Beginner Slovakia hiking holiday in the Tatras Region
HIGH TATRAS: Hrebienok – Sliezsky dom (mountain hotel) – Batizovské Pleso (mountain tarn) – Vyšné Hágy

Walk to Hrebienok and follow the red sign which leads you under Slavkovsky Peak to Sliezsky dom (iconic 4-star hotel near Velicke pleso mountain tarn, under Slovakia´s highest peak – Gerlach). Follow the red sigh to Batizovske Pleso mountain tarn, than the yellow sign to Vysne Hagy. Take the electric train either back to your hotel in Stary Smokovec or to Strbske Pleso (the highest situated mountain village in Slovakia), walk around the famous mountain tarn/ lake. Then take the electric train from Strbske Pleso to your hotel in Stary Smokovec.

DAY 4
POPRAD: Aquacity waterpark – shopping – Spisska Sobota

After two intensive hiking days take the electric train to Poprad. Poprad is a town considered to be the “entrance gate” to the High Tatras. Enjoy your full day in Aquacity waterpark. After spending a relaxing and fun day in Aquacity, walk 10 minutes to Spisska Sobota, a well know historic part of Poprad with quaint and traditional buildings. Finish the day in the city center of Poprad and have a well-earned drink in one of the many pubs.

DAY 5
EASTERN TATRAS – Belianska cave - Bachledova Valley – Bachledka Treetop Walkway

Today you will visit the Eastern (White) Tatras. Take the local bus to Tatranská Kotlina (climatic spa), visit the most popular cave in Slovakia – The Belianska Cave – and discover the hidden beauties under the earth. After visiting the cave, take a walk on the cycling trail to Bachledova Valley before joining the cable car to the entrance of Bachledka Treetop Walkway. Enjoy the spectacular views from the Treetop Walkway, filling your memory card with beautiful photos. From here you continue the walk on the ridge line, continuing towards Zdiar, a traditional ‘Goral village’ with famous wooden architecture. Take the bus from Zdiar to Stary Smokovec.

DAY 6
PIENINY NATION PARK: private guided trip
An English speaking guide will pick you up by car and drive you to Pieniny National Park. On the way you will have a short stop in the small historic medieval town Kezmarok. After arriving to Pieniny National Park you will start your sailing experience on traditional wooden rafts on the Dunajec River which forms a natural border between Slovakia and Poland. After arriving to Lesnica you will enjoy your traditional lunch and continue to Lubovniansky Castle and open air museum. (The programme, entrance fees, guide, transportation and lunch are included in the price).

DAY 7
HIGH TATRAS – Strbke Pleso – Popradské Pleso – Stary Smokovec
During the last day you will visit the beautiful mountain village Strbske Pleso; one of Slovakia’s most popular resorts and highest situated settlement of Slovakia. Take the electric train from Stary Smokovec to Strbske Pleso, enjoy the spectacular views at the peaks and the famous mountain tarn. The cableway takes you to the mountain cottage under the Solisko peak. The vista from here is another photo opportunity; if visibility is good you will see High Tatras national park, but maybe even two other famous national parks – the Low Tatras and the Slovak Paradise. After taking the cableway back to Strbske Pleso follow the red sign and hike cca 2-hours to Popradske Pleso, one of the most spectacular mountain tarns hidden under the peaks, deep in the mountains. From the tarn follow the yellow sign and in a few minutes you will reach the symbolic cemetery and story of the victims of the Tatras, decorated by carved and painted wooden crosses. At the end of your day follow the blue sign and walk to the station of the electric train and ride back to Stary Smokovec.

DAY 7
HIGH TATRAS – departure
The beginner Slovakia hiking holiday in the Tatras Region ends after breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Poprad of Krakow as per your booking conditions.
