Italy safari holidays & wildlife adventure

Italy is one of Europe’s most bio-diverse countries, with around 57,000 species! Anyone who has been to its famous cities, such as Rome, Florence and Venice, will know how stunning its man-made habitats can be. But its natural habitats are just as stirring. They are also very varied: from the snowy peaks of the Alps, through forests and gentle hills, to the subtropical climate of Sicily and Calabria. There are plenty of opportunities to see the wilder side of life on an Italy safari.

Italy has taken steps to protect all this diversity, with many areas of national park and protected land. As well as being home to a wide range of animals and birds, they are incredibly beautiful places to explore. Take a guided Italy trekking holiday through wildflower meadows in the Alps, see ancient cave paintings in Valcamonica, explore Byzantine ruins in Calabria. Natural and human landscapes work together across much of this country.

In Italy’s Alpine region you’ll see mountain species such as chamois, ibex, deer and marmot. There are some wolves too, and you may even see a bear. In lowland areas and forests, you could catch sight of wild boar, wild cats, vultures and falcons. Italy has several species that are unique to it, including the Corsican hare and the Sardinian bat. From Italy’s long coastline, you might spot dolphins, and occasionally even whales.

Take an Italy safari and see some of the best of European wildlife. Wander through mountain wildernesses, explore ancient forests, and dive or snorkel in the warm waters of the Mediterranean, and you’ll see a huge range of fauna and flora, as well as soak up some of that famous Italian culture.
