Ever thought of skateboarding UK to Morocco? No neither have I! But a 21 year old has completed this epic skateboard overland adventure from Brighton to Tangiers for a Mental Health Charity. Find out how one of our favourite extreme sports can be used for long distance travel below!
Twenty-one-year-old Sam Allison from Brighton has just wrapped up an unprecedented feat: skating from his hometown Brighton all the way to Tangier, Morocco, in just under forty intense days. His remarkable expedition was designed to shine a light on mental health and raise money for the Ben Raemers Foundation.

Traversing thousands of kilometres, Sam propelled himself across England, France, Spain and into North Africa, relying almost entirely on his board. Only pausing the epic skateboard overland adventure for the two necessary ferry journeys between the UK and France, and from Spain into Morocco.
Along the way he battled the elements, sore joints and the unexpected hurdles of long-distance travel, yet pressed on mile after mile.
“Physically it was brutal—my feet, ankles and knees really took a pounding—but every ache was worth it,” Sam reflected upon reaching Tangier. “Skating has always been my lifeline during dark times, and this was my chance to give something back, to remind people that mental wellbeing matters both on and off the board.”

The ride supported the Ben Raemers Foundation, which honours the late pro skater Ben Raemers by providing mental health resources and breaking down stigma in the skate community. Along his route Sam camped under the stars and used a smartphone app to scout the smoothest tarmac—though he occasionally had to haul his board on foot or take detours, and even suffered a heavy fall in the final days.
Still, encouragement from passersby, fellow skateboarders and his online followers kept him pushing toward his goal. “There were moments I felt completely spent,” he admitted, “but the kindness of strangers reminded me why this was so important.”
Sam hopes his epic skateboard overland adventure encourages others to chase the paths less travelled. “Life’s too short to hold back on what you dream of doing,” he said.
