Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe, is a must see as is Dettifoss, the most powerful waterfall on the continent. If self driving and heading to the interior for an overland adventure you will need to be proficient at driving off-road and in particular on snow and ice. While some routes require extreme driving skills, many other tours of Iceland are on well maintained roads.
