From shoes that track your every move to ‘smartcases’ that lock themselves and personal translators to eggs that store all your photos…Yes, it’s getting weird out there. This stuff is either real or coming to a store near you soon.

1. The Ehang Person-sized Drone
Now you can take videos from a driver’s seat in your own drone. Ehang, a Chinese company, has come up with a quadra-propeller prototype that allows you to fly above the traffic – up to 11,480 feet above it at 62 mph and as far as the 23-minute electrical charge will take you. It’s 18 feet long and can fold into a five-foot space to fit in your garage or that perfect parking space. And, once it is manufactured it will only set you back about $250,000.
2. Zhor Tech Digitsole Smartshoe
Control your destiny through your feet and The Digitsole. It warms your feet on cold days, tracks your comings and goings, keeps your calorie tally going, tightens and loosens wherever you need it and adjusts insoles to manage shock absorption automatically. Charges wirelessly and has it’s own light. Lets see a version in trekking boots, please. Due this spring and very expensive.
3. The Egg
One should always carry an Egg. This thing is THE missing piece for managing storage on your smart phone and keeping all your photos in order. It simply connects to your phone on the fly, stores all your photos (bypassing meddlesome cloud technology) so you can keep the phone’s memory free for more photos.
You can grab everything you want from the app. Very neat particularly for those on the road and in our opinion one of the 10 best travel gadgets of 2016.

4. Untethered Audio from Zagg
The Zagg Flex Arc headset is wearable retractable earbuds that connect to your music through Bluetooth and has external speakers that rock. The sound quality is good enough for a room and for hands-free calls that come in. The set offers eight hours of music and talk time between charges.
5. Griffin Power Bank
Griffin has a proprietary Travel Power Bank so you can charge your Apple Watch. Made with the sanction of Apple with a little round induction plaque on a lightweight key chain. Plug in the keychain nightly and you are good to go all day and one of the 10 best travel gadgets of 2016.

6. Smart Watch with Bling
Swarovski Activity Tracking Jewellery – Not only does this item track your movements, your calories, your sleep patterns, and your couch time, but it can be worn to a cocktail party and gets its power from the sun. Bit bling, but interesting.
7. Smart Suitcase from Bluesmart
One of the latest in a line of ‘smartcases’ the new, four-wheel Bluesmart has two USB charging stations: one on the outside and one inside. The hard case separates into two shells for flexibility and “give” and, with the pull of the handle will tell you what the case weighs. An all the functions are served from its app. You can lock it, unlock it and even track where it is.

8. Bedphones not Bedbugs
Bedphones is a comfortable earbud that lays on your ear rather than in it, and plays the music you want, the storybook you want, the white noise you want with an attached app that senses when you are sleeping and turns itself, and the phone, off. They come with a comfy satin eye mask.
9. Need a Translator? You’re Wearing One
The iLi wearable translator received the crowds at CES and even though it’s not ready for prime time it’s interesting. Worn around your neck it promises to answer some big problems. Perhaps it won’t be one of the 10 best travel gadgets of 2016 but in the future people won’t travel without it!

10. Pet Addictions Cubed
Stay connected to your pet when you are away via the Petcube. Talk to it, play with it and keep tracks on it via an app. Should stop you feeling guilty for leaving them alone but doesn’t promise to clear up their mess…
