Looking for some great dives in Gran Canaria? If you want to dive into big shoals of colourful fish or see special animals like angelsharks, rays, morays, baracudas, seahorses or nudibranch then the el Cabrón Marine Reserve has over ten dive routes with the best selection of caves, arches and walls for you to explore in Gran Canaria. You can join Davy Jones Diving in their private sub-tropical garden and their experienced team will tell you all about the strange and unusual things you will see on your dive.
Eduardo and Brian have been showing visitors the amazing variety of marine life at the number one dive site on the island, the El Cabrón Marine Reserve for over 18 years. They will take you the short ride to this wonderful dive site where the volcanic topography of the area has created some dramatic underwater scenery. You can swim through natural rock arches, as you explore the caves and cliffs with them.
It is regarded by many as the best place to dive as it has four of the top ten dives in Gran Canaria, and was described by PADI as one of ‘Three Incredible Marine Reserves’. It is the only area in Gran Canaria where you can easily dive in caverns and caves. With their intimate local knowledge they can show you more of the secrets – this the only place where divers can regularly see endangered species such as Spiny Pufferfish, Barred Hogfish and Caribbean Soldierfish.
The range of habitats creates a rich mix of species, and you can find almost the complete spectrum of Canarian underwater life, from small colourful creatures such as nudibranchs, damselfish, cleaner shrimps and seahorses, through amazing creatures such as cuttlefish, moray eels, stargazer and trumpetfish, to top end species such as spiny pufferfish, barracudas, five types of rays and in the right season angel sharks.
They dive here all year round, six days a week, you will normally explore the area with most marine life at around 20m, and because of the ‘multi-level’ topography you will get dive times of around 40-45 minutes.
Your base for your dive experiences is the most spacious and relaxed dive centre in Gran Canaria. This is situated in a private tropical garden, where you get ready and set up before each dive. There are outdoor sitting/relaxing areas both in the sun, and in the shade of the fig and pomegranete trees. There is plenty of space for ‘social distancing’ between families or groups, so you create your own socially distanced ‘bubble’.
All their bookings are ‘flexibook’ so that you can easily plan a complete holiday package of flights, hotels and diving. There is no booking deposit, and no charge for making changes to dates, but they just need to check your instructor and place are available. Request a provisional booking first then you can sort out other elements.
So don’t miss the dives in Arinaga when you come to Gran Canaria, and remember that Davy Jones have been diving here for eighteen years and their team is probably the most knowledgeable for this amazing diving area.
