Small group trekking holiday in the Svaneti Region, Georgia: Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival – Tbilisi or Kutaisi

Arrival in Tbilisi. Transfer to the hotel (on request). Night in Tbilisi, 3* hotel with central location.

Day 2: Departure to the Svaneti region
Departure by train to Zugdidi (Departure 8:20 a.m. - arrival 2:21 p.m.). A local driver from Svanetie will meet you at Zugdidi station. Transfer to Mestia. Night in Mestia, family hotel

Day 3: Trek from Mestia to Zhabeshi
Start our trek from Mestia (1500m) towards the village Zhabeshi (1680m). From this morning, each day we move on foot to reach the highest village Ushguli step by step. The first day towards Ushguli is easier, the trail follows the rivers and the north side of the mountain. The path passes Mulakhi village, it is possible to visit the churches of the village. After 4-5 hours of trekking, we arrive at the village of Zhabeshi (1680m) surrounded by the mountains including the peak of Tetnuldi (4852m), which means “white” in English. Overnight in Zhabeshi, guesthouse.
Walking hours: around 4-5 hours, 16 km.
Elevation +: on foot - 400m. Elevation -: on foot - 300m. Difficulty level: average.

Day 4: Hidden village among the mountains
In the morning we start the trek from Zhabeshi (1680m) to Adishi village (2040m) which is located on the other side of 2500m pass. This day is more difficult which begins with the climbing to the pass. The trail crosses the mountain forest and climbs up to the slope of Tetnuldi ski resort. The descent towards the village of Adishi offers us different views of the village. Finally, after 7-8 hours of walking, we descend into the village hidden among the mountains at the foot of Mount Tetnuldi (4852 m). Several churches in the village with its regional murals are absolutely worth visiting. Overnight in Adishi, guesthouse

Day 5: Panorama of the peaks of the Greater Caucasus
In the morning, depart from Adishi village (2040m) towards the Chkhutnieri pass (2800m). The trail follows the Adishistskali river and finally crosses it before starting another climb of 800m altitude. We cross the river by horses and begin the ascending path rich with alpine plants. After we climb the pass, all the peaks of the Greater Caucasus between 4000m and 5201m, as well as Tetnuldi glacier are in front of us. Finally, we descend to the village of Iprali for overnight after a difficult but emotional day. Overnight in Iprali, guesthouse

Day 6: Trekking to the highest village Ushguli
In the morning we leave (by car) towards Oushgouli (2200m), one of the highest villages in Georgia. Oushguli is located at the foot of Mount Chkhara (5201m), the highest peak in the Georgian Caucasus. Arrival in Ouchgouli. Then we do the 4–5-hour hike to the Chkhara glacier (2390m). Departure towards Mestia. Night in Mestia, guesthouse.

Day 7: Back to Tbilisi or Kutaisi
Departure to Zugdidi by car. if Tbilisi - Return by train to Tbilisi (departure 5:20 p.m. - arrival 11:20 p.m.). Arrival in Tbilisi and transfer to the hotel. Night in Tbilisi, 3* hotel with central location. If Kutaisi - transfer by car from Mestia to Kutaisi

Day 8: Transfer
