Fuerteventura is the Canary Islands’ watersports hotspot. It has plenty of big, sandy beaches, and plenty of wind, which has made the island a favourite with kitesurfers and windsurfers. But wakeboarders are getting in on the action too. The waves and wind just make a Fuerteventura wakeboarding holiday more fun!

Wakeboarding is easy to arrange just about anywhere on Fuerteventura’s coast. Unlike many of the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura is not a place where people go to party, but a place where people go to enjoy the sand and sea. That’s understandable, because Fuerteventura has some of the best beaches in the Canary Islands.

Wakeboarding can be challenging on Fuerteventura when the wind gets up and the swell grows. If you’re a beginner, head to Cotillo, where you’ll find a nice flat lagoon to get lessons on. Once you’ve mastered the sport, you can head out to the open sea and test your skills on the waves.

Corralejo is the island’s capital and biggest resort. It’s the ideal place to stay if you want to combine wakeboarding with other sports, as there are more operators there than anywhere else. It’s also got plenty of restaurants and a few lively bars to relax in after a hard day on the water.

Caleta del Fuste is another good choice for beginners, with a protected man-made beach and flat water. It’s also the best resort on the island for children, with great facilities and plenty of kids’ clubs. If you have teens who want to learn to wakeboard, it could be the perfect choice.

Fuerteventura wakeboarding can be challenging, with lots of opportunities for experts to show off their tricks and improve their skills. But beginners will be able to have a go too. If you’ve never tried wakeboarding before, try it in Fuerteventura.
