Low costs, lovely locals and lots of lager (apres) are three great reasons to visit Livigno. In this Guide to Livigno snowkiting holidays we give you a fourth great reason to visit.

Livigno is an Italian mountain resort with a reputation for offering affordable snowsports. It is a tax haven, making a holiday there a fair bit cheaper than in most Alpine resorts. But its relative cheapness is far from the only reason to go to Livigno. Boarders and skiers love its snow-sure slopes and its lively après-ski scene…and so do snowkiters.

On Livigno snowkiting holidays you can have free run of frozen lakes around the resort, and can get up on to the slopes, too. Livigno has always been a resort that does things differently, and is a big centre for freestyle skiers and snowboarders. Snowkiting is another, very welcome, string to its bow.

The Lago di Livigno is a long, narrow artificial lake in the Livigno valley. It is perfect for snowkiting, with plenty of space to catch some wind. The end of the lake furthest from the resort is in Switzerland, so you can take an international kite-ride!

Another way to kite over the Swiss border is to visit the Lago Bianco, a few kilometres to the south of Livigno. There, you’ll find snowkiting schools and plenty of other snowkiters for company.

The sun disappears behind the mountains in the afternoon, and it can get really cold: head to the lake in the morning for the best conditions. Fro a great adventure snowkite from Bernina Pass in Switzerland to Lago Bianca, www.kitesailing.ch offer this as a guided trip!

If you want to learn some snowkiting skills, head to the cable snowpark in the middle of the resort. There, you can try out tricks and jumps being pulled by a cable. Not quite the same as kiting, but a pretty good alternative!

Livigno snowkiting holidays offers great snow and great atmosphere. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, we’re sure you’ll love it.
