Taghazout is a sleepy village on Morocco’s Atlantic coast. Sleepy, that is, except for the surfers. With big Atlantic rollers creating world-class conditions, Taghazout has become something of a celebrity in the surfing world. Many surfers visit, some have even made the place their home. Few places in Morocco have really caught on to the joys of scuba. But dive schools are beginning to establish themselves, especially in Tangier (on the Straits of Gilbratar) and Agadir, just 20 km south of Taghazout. Dive schools in Agadir use Taghazout as their launch point.

Diving in Taghazout is an adventure, because so few people have done it before. There are not many known dive sites, and so you’ll have the privilege of knowing you are one of the first to dive this bit of ocean. You also won’t have to worry about running into other big groups of divers!

You should see a good range of wildlife on your dive in Taghazout. You’ll see big ocean fish such as tuna, smaller ones like bream and grouper, and possibly some turtles. You might also be lucky enough to see some dolphins – a really magical experience. Visibility isn’t as good as it could be, but it’s good enough to enjoy diving and exploring.
