The country has good tourist infrastructure too, meaning sailors will find it easy to book bareboat and crewed charters, as well as organised cruises, often on traditional Thai boats. If you want to do more than sail, you’ll be able to combine a sailing trip with scuba diving, snorkelling and canoeing.
Thai sailing journeys often start in the country’s big tourist hubs, such as Phuket and Koh Samui. From there, you won’t need to travel far to find deserted beaches and rugged cliffs to explore.
On Thailand’s western coast, the Andaman Sea is a great place to explore. Phang Nga Bay’s spectacular limestone rocks and the granite Similian Islands are both popular with sailors. On the other side of the country, the Gulf of Thailand offers the chance to sail through the teeming waters of the Ang Thong Marine Park. If you want to be really adventurous, you can follow the Gulf coast around to Cambodia and Vietnam, or head south to Malaysia an Singapore.
