Vilamoura lies in the heart of Portugal’s Algarve region. It’s a favourite of sun-worshippers and upmarket shoppers. It’s also a great place to base yourself for a holiday of a more adventurous kind. Choose a Vilamoura kayaking holiday, and you’ll get to see another side of this glamorous holiday resort.
Visitors to Vilamoura can enjoy sea kayaking just off the beach and around the nearby coves and bays. There is also some lovely canoeing to be had on the nearby rivers. You won’t find much in the way of adrenalin-packed white-water rides near Vilamoura, but you will be able to enjoy stress-free paddling, with beginners and families able to join in all the fun.
Vilamoura has two good-sized resort beaches. They’re great places to start paddling and enjoying the water. The water is warm and calm: perfect if you’re a first-timer. Close to the resort are smaller beaches and coves that you can explore easily from the water. Paddle up, pull up on the beach and enjoy your own slice of Mediterranean heaven!
You can also travel from Vilamoura to the Ria Formosa nature park. This stunning park is spread over 18,000 hectares of land and sea. In a kayak, you can explore islands, lagoons and beaches. You’ll see plenty of wildlife, including a wide variety of water birds and sea creatures.
If you’d like to get on the river, both the Arade and Guadiana rivers are accessible from Vilamoura. Both are safe, shallow rivers that are easy to paddle. You’ll see some stunning, tranquil countryside and pretty little villages. If you want to see what the Algarve is like beyond its beaches, this is the way to do it.
A Vilamoura kayaking holiday is a fun, relaxed way to enjoy the water and some of Portugal’s most beautiful landscapes.

Hi Sheela
I am sorry but we are not a booking agent. We write about kayaking and publish articles. Unfortunately I do not have a contact in Vilamoura but I expect you can book it while there.
