India has drawn in travellers for generations. They go to take in the country’s fascinating culture and history, to explore its varied landscapes and busy cities, and to lie on its beaches. India’s west coast in particular, including the states of Goa and Kerala, are fringed with postcard-perfect beaches, with white sand and warm water. Many are happy to spend their trip to India chilling out on that sand. But many are not, and that’s where India’s growing watersports industry comes in. Fancy an India wakeboard trip?
India is not known as a wakeboard destination, but wakeboarding operators have begun to pop up in its beach resorts in the last few years. Goa is the centre of India’s beach tourism industry, and so it is also the best place to head for watersports.
Baga and Calangute are the most built up beaches in Goa and are the easiest places to to find a wakeboarding operator. Many of them work out of the area’s big hotels. The sea can get choppy, but when it is, wakeboarders can head to the nearby Chapora River.
Further south, there are several beaches where you’ll be able to wakeboard. Candolim, Benaulim and Colva all have good tourist infrastructure, including waterspsorts.
Away from Goa, there are a few wakeboarding operators in Karnataka and Kerala. Both of these states have beaches just as good as Goa’s, which attract international and domestic tourists, such as Kerala’s Kovalam Beach.
