Kitesurfing gear review Best Spark Plug 2013

The 2013 Best Spark Plug is a great looking board with its clear laminate layer showing off the wood in this very affordable design. The main selling point from Best with the Spark Plug is to get a twintip with all the technology from more expensive boards but at a fraction of the cost.

The graphics this year are more pleasing on the eye with the new Best font and logo evident on the underside and top deck. The new air force pads and straps, which come as standard with the Best Spark Plug, do make the board look like it is higher end than it actually is, which is a good thing.

Review Best Spark Plug: The Tech

The laminated Paulownia wood core allows the board to really have some spring in it, which helps when coping with any choppy water. The rocker line is quite flat, which lends itself to beginners or days when the wind is light. The pre-preg lay up finish on the board is what is saving the weight on this model, reducing it by up to 700gms.

Review Best Spark Plug: Overall impression

Aimed at the entry level rider, the feel of the board is quite stiff.  However, the wood flex core does absorb the chop reasonably well, along with any heavy landings. When hitting smaller waves the tip seems to cut through effortlessly but does give a little bit of spray back in your face which can be off putting at times.

The weight this year has been reduced, which is a plus as in previous years Spark Plug boards have been a bit on the heavy and cumbersome side. As an overall review Best Spark Plug is a solid beginners board.
