After reading the Best website about the TS, the main thing that stood out about this kite was that each size is uniquely engineered for a specific set of riding conditions. This also means that each kite is designed with different riding in mind. The details even go down to the material used. For example, in the light wind kites, the canopy and components have been made as light as possible.
Like we pointed out in our other reviews on Best kites, for this model the R&D team really did “beef” up their kite line-up. The extra scuff pads along the leading edge not only look good, they seem strong enough to withstand whatever the beach throws at it. The double ripstop material helps to improve the wear and tear, and in turn this helps with the stability of the kites.
The bar has been improved for the 2013 kit too – mainly the safety release system. The release system is much better and far easier to re-assemble. The grip has also changed and is a lot stickier in the hands when its wet, which helps with grip. The big cushioned bar ends are easy on the hands when steering through turns or loops and also help with keeping the bar afloat.
Review Best TS: The tech
The kite doesn’t have any pulley systems, which makes for a very simple and direct feel to the steering. The attachments are nice and simple, with the bridle attaching to the lines by a standard larks head knot.
The TS is a smooth kite. It feels as though it’s very comfortable in the sky and deals with gusts very well indeed. We tried the 13m and 15m TS and these were superb middle- to low-wind kites. The feel on the bar was very direct and each kite turned well and had a good amount of pull throughout the turn. The 15m certainly didn’t feel as cumbersome as some other light-wind kites on the market, which gives you a little more confidence on the water.
Review Best TS: Overall impression
The TS range has it all – good low-wind ability and also great high-wind capabilities in the smaller sizes. We haven’t tested the smaller kites but from reviews in the magazines it certainly sounds as though they are a super stable kite which is not to be pushed to one side when deciding on your new set up. On overall review Best TS is a great kite for all styles of riding from freeride and freestyle to racing with the bigger sizes. Have a look for your nearest dealer to test one soon.
