Croatia safari holidays & wildlife adventure

Croatia has grown quite a reputation as a holiday destination over the last decade or so. And it’s not difficult to see why. It has glorious beaches, islands to explore, a lively nightlife and cultural scene, and some beautiful cities. That’s enough to keep most tourists more than happy for a week or two. But if you want even more, take a Croatia safari.

Croatia is perhaps not the first place that many consider when looking for a wildlife holiday. But Croatia has huge areas of national parkland and little-visited wilderness, where animals and birds thrive. There are eight national parks in Croatia, four in the mountains and four along the coast. Between them, they are home to a wide range of habitats and an even wider range of wildlife.

Croatia is still home to a relatively large population of wolves, especially in the mountain regions. It is also home to the lynx, Europe’s largest wildcat, and the jackal. Other wild animals to look out for in Croatia include the brown bear, wild boar, polecat and elk. Take a trip through the national parks and spot these species. Make time to just enjoy the natural environment too: you can spend all day in parts of Croatia trekking untouched wilderness without coming across another group of people.

On Croatia’s coastline, make sure you look out for dolphins. The Grey Dolphin is native to Croatia’s waters, although it seldom comes near the beach: take a ride out to see on a dolphin-spotting boat and watch them leap!

A Croatia safari offers the chance to see an enormous range of European wildlife in its natural environment. Croatia is still a sparsely populated, unspoilt country in many places, ripe for exploring…
