Guide to Zadar paraglide holidays

A trip to Zadar paragliding takes you to a fascinating and vibrant old city that has plenty of history, as well as a promising future. The city lies on Croatia’s Dalmatian coast, a short hop to holiday islands and busy resorts. There are good paragliding sites all over the Croatian coast, with plenty of holidaymakers looking to combine a week or two of sun and sand with something a little more adventurous. It’s a good decision: Croatia’s coast is stunningly beautiful. Ancient ports and villages seem to spill into the sea, with the Dinaric Alps stretching alongside.

The Dinaric Alps make a great place to start a flight from. Rocky mountain peaks rise behind the city, which is sandwiched between them and the Adriatic. Taking off from the mountains, you can fly over forested valleys, with an incredible view of both city and sea.

Drive a couple of hours north of Zadar, and you’ll find Baska Ostarije, a popular paragliding site and small winter ski resort. From there, you can fly over the green Croatian countryside, with its winding river valleys and forests. In winter, you can fly over the valleys and peaks as they are covered in snow.

Flights over the islands near Zadar are easy to arrange and popular with beginners. More challenging flights can be found too. Travel a little north of Zadar to Baska, for a fantastic mountain to beach flight which will often see you flying alongside vultures and riding some strong thermals.

Croatia’s growing popularity as a holiday destination means that it is becoming increasingly popular with paragliders, too. If you want to see this beautiful country, but do more than just sit on the beach, then a Zadar paragliding trip is for you. Explore the city, enjoy the beaches, and then take to the air.
