Podgorica is located in the South of the country but serves as the main airport for the entire nation. The main skiing region of the Bjelasica mountains easily accessible by car and only about a two hour drive away from Podgorica airport.

Podgorica ski resorts are generally low compared with the Alps, the highest peak in the range being just 2,139m, but benefit from great snowfall. Kolasin is the most developed ski town with five lifts located fifteen minutes away by car and a quad lift under construction. The town has great hotels with spas and good restaurants. There’s a total of 14km of slopes, 6k of which are considered easy while just 3km difficult. The ski pass here is remarkably cheap at only 20 Euros per day.

Those looking for something a bit steeper should head instead to Zabljak. With twenty peaks over 2000 metres it’s more comparable to Alpine altitudes, and is served by four lifts. The ski conditions here match the beauty for the scenery with great powdery snow.

Those looking to combine skiing with off the beaten path travel should opt for the Vucje resort. The altitude isn’t impressive at only 1300 metres but is a great family orientated small resort and very much off the beaten path and is serviced by three ski lifts and had 4 pistes of between 400m and 1250m.
