Guide to Albufeira kayaking holidays

Albufeira is Portugal’s most popular holiday resort and a fantastic place for those looking to have a kayaking adventure on the water. It is easy to pick up a hire canoe or kayak and head out off the resort’s main beach. The more adventurous can spend days exploring the coastline beyond the resort, or along the nearby Aljezur River.

An Albufeira kayaking trip is a great way to explore a different side of the Algarve. The town itself has plenty of facilities for holiday makers, and lots of accommodation, restaurants and bars to choose from. You can choose to kayak or canoe every day, or just enjoy a beach holiday with a few days kayaking thrown in.

Albufeira’s coast is calm and warm, making it a great place for beginners to learn to kayak. It’s also a great place for those who love the beach. Stretching out either side from the main resort is 30 km of coastline, home to 25 beaches. In a kayak, it’s easy to explore them, jumping on and off the water as often as you like. There are plenty of spots where you can find some peace and quiet, including some gorgeous isolated little coves.

If you’d like to get away from the beach, head to the river. The Aljezur flows out to the sea, past whitewashed villages and lush green fields. You won’t find much white water, but you will find a warm welcome and the joy of exploring another side to the Algarve.

Albufeira offers more than just budget beach holidays. An Albufeira kayaking trip can help you see the Algarve at its best, with plenty of natural beauty to enjoy.
