Known for its world-class cuisine, stunning beaches and traditional lifestyle, France is also one of the world’s best snowboarding destinations. Head to the Alps for a France snowboarding holiday, and you get a choice of world-renowned resorts, including Chamonix, Val d’isere, Courcheval, Morzine and Les Arcs to name but a few.

Chamonix is often considered France’s first ski resort. Standing in the shadow of the mighty Mont Blanc, Chamonix is a very popular resort, which can mean it gets a little busy. Although it is not the best place for beginners experienced riders looking to catch some fresh powder in its abundant off piste will not be disappointed. Chamonix is a town in its own right meaning the nightlife is some of the best après-ski action in France.

Les Trois Vallees, including Courcheval, Val Thorens, La Tania, Méribel, Brides-les-Bains and Les Menuires has nearly 200 lifts between them, covering over 600 kilometres of runs. It is the world’s largest ski resort covered by a single ski pass that is all accessible solely by ski lift.

Tignes/Val d’Isere is also worth checking out if you’re looking for a France snowboarding holiday offering over 300km of piste and some very good off piste opportunities. It may be one of the most expensive resorts in Europe but with several peaks towering at over 3,400 metres, it offers snow sure snowboarding. Val d’Isere has some of the best nightlife in the Alps and is very popular with Brits.

Morzine lies at the heart of the large Portes du Soleil area which, a ski region that includes twelve resorts across the French-Swiss border and includes Les Gets, Avoriaz and Campery. With over 650 kilometres of piste over 288 runs, this is another world-class France snowboarding destination.

Paradiski is another enormous ski area combining Les Arcs, Peisey-Vallandry and la Plagne. With 425 km of runs up to 3250 in height it is another resort with guaranteed snow. It can be easily accessed by train from all over Europe into Borg St Maurice which the town at the base of the mountains.

With so many exceptional resorts to choose from, each with a different vibe and atmosphere, there is a France snowboarding holiday out there to suit you. Whether you’re into freeriding or freestyle whether your a beginner or an expert, you can find it all in France. Plus, the food and wine aren’t so bad either.
