Greece is ripe for exploring by boat, with a long coastline and over 2000 islands. There are charters and cruises available of just about any kind you could think of, and the gentle waters of the Mediterranean are generally kind to novice sailors. If you’re making your first sailing trip or want to learn to sail, Greece could just be the place to do it.

You’re never far from a safe harbour in Greece, making it an easy place to make short trips. Among the main bases for charter trips are Athens, Skiathos, Corfu and Kalamaki. If you want to take sailing day trips or take course, these are the best places to head.

You can also include Greece on a much longer itinerary. It is perfectly placed for journeys west through the Mediterranean, and for travel to the east to Turkey and the Middle East, or through the Bosporus and into the Black Sea.

The best time to go sailing in Greece is during the summer, when the winds are strongest and the water warmest. But it’s usually possible to sail at any time between April and October.

Take a Greece sailing holiday and enjoy exploring one of Europe’s most attractive coastlines.
