Guide to Marmaris paraglide holidays

Marmaris is one of Turkey’s best-loved resorts, and is a great place to fly, with some choice paragliding sites just a short distance from the town. Marmaris has made its name as a friendly, attractive resort with plenty to do and see. Why not add paragliding to that list of things to do?

A Marmaris paragliding trip is a great chance to see the gorgeous countryside around the resort, and get away from the heat of the beach for a while. If you are a first-time paraglider, you’ll find plenty of local operators able to take you out on a tandem flight or give you some lessons. If you already know how to fly, then you’ll be able to explore the mountains around on your own terms – there are plenty of take-off points to choose from.

The most popular, and perhaps most spectacular, paragliding site near Marmaris is the Babadang Mountain behind the resort of Oludeniz. You’ll take off from the mountain, and then fly down towards the resort, which has a natural inland lagoon right by the open sea. It is one of Turkey’s most photographed natural attractions.

The Babadang Mountain is part of the Taurus range. Those with their own wing can take some time to explore and fly over its valleys. You can also fly from just outside Marmaris itself, over the resort and its beach. It can get chilly in the mountains in winter, so if you want to fly, get there between April and November.

A Marmaris paragliding trip is the perfect way to combine a seaside holiday with an aerial adventure. Once you’ve flown over the stunning Oludeniz Bay, you’ll never be happy with lying on the beach again…
