Guide to Seychelles kiteboarding holidays

A Seychelles Kitesurfing trip will take you to one of the remotest set of islands in the world. Placed 1500km from the east coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean and it has a population of around 86,000. The best time to travel here is during the summer months of June to September.

The trade winds from the south-east will create cross on shore winds with speeds of 12 – 22mph. The temperature does not fluctuate outside 25 – 32 degrees. This creates temperate waters all year round. You won’t need to bring a wetsuit with you for your Seychelles Kitesurfing holiday.

You will fly into the international airport of Mahe. From here the 115 islands of the Seychelles are yours to be explored. On Mahe Island you will find your first spot called Anse aux Pins. This lagoon is shallow and creates good flat water inside of the reef. However, the depth can get dangerous, especially for beginners due to the coral underfoot. The waves out on the reef can reach a good height of 1-3m.

The smaller atoll and reef islands are known as the Outer Islands and there are plenty to explore. If you take a boat from Victoria, Mahe you can get to Cerf and Long Island. Here you will find perfect aquamarine waters in the flat, shallow lagoon. This area is better for beginners as there are several islands around to explore. You will also be a good distance away from the reef’s and the waves.

The Islands are very tranquil and set up for couples and have been ranked in the top ten for Honeymooners and Weddings. Numerous hotels adorn the beaches offering the best in luxury accommodation. Renting a villa is another option and one will create a great environment for a group Seychelles kitesurfing holiday.
