Thailand trekking holidays

Of course, no trip to Thailand is complete without a visit to the capital, Bangkok. With its infamous nightlife, this vibrant city has to be seen to be believed. However, it’s the northern part of the country, in the area around Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai that provides the really stunning views and trekking.

Try to experience a Thailand trekking holidays in the Maetang River area, a stunning jungle just a short drive from Chiang Mai. You’ll see storybook waterfalls and the country’s third tallest mountain.

Halfway between Bangkok and Chiang Mai is Tak province, another great area for trekking – especially if you like your trekking remote and wild. There are also some excellent opportunities for trekking in central Thailand. Check out the wildlife in the Khao Yai National Park and the border region of Kanchanaburi.

To be honest most areas of Thailand offer some hiking or trekking. Even on the Thai Islands there is often a high point to summit or secluded bays to hike to. The jungles in the west bordering Burma offer good trekking, likewise the rain forest to the east bordering Cambodia have plenty of trails.

Thailand trekking is usually unaffected by the fairly predictable weather, with only the monsoon season providing any real climate danger. However, in the colder parts of the year, you might be advised to bring some warmer clothes, as it can get a little chilly.

All in all, Thailand is a remarkable country with some world-class trekking, hospitable people and very low prices. It’s a real adventure in anyone’s books and an experience you will never forget.
