Bali is a fantastic wakeboarding destination. The sport is well-established on the island, with operators all around the Bali’s tourist areas offering lessons and rides. Bali attracts travellers from around the world to enjoy its beaches. More and more of them are realising that the island has more to offer than just a spot on its sand and organising a Bali wakeboard experience.
Wakeboarders in Bali have to compete for space with kitesurfers, windsurfers and surfers. Bali is well-known as a surfing destination, with many beaches offering big waves, especially on the south coast. Wakeboarders need to look for calmer water in protected bays and lagoons.
Sanur Beach, near the capital of Denpasar, is a good choice for wakeboarders. It has a gorgeous beach with a lagoon right in front of it, protected from the waves by a reef. The conditions there are perfect for wakeboarding. It’s just a short hop to Sanur from the main tourist area of Kuta, which has a great beach, but usually too many waves for wakeboarders. Nearby Mengiat Beach is another good choice, also protected by a reef.
Wakeboarders might also want to think about heading to the less busy north of the island. As well as uncrowded beaches and laid-back resorts, the north has calm, clear water that makes it ideal for wakebaording. Lovina has a cluster of small hotels and watersports operators.
Bali’s dry season is from April to September. Visit then for the best conditions. Water temperatures are in the high twenties most of the year, and air temperatures often into the thirties.
Take a Bali wakeboard trip and see another side to this renowned party island. Bali holidays are always good, but they can be even better with a board strapped to your feet!
