Anyone who kitesurfs or kiteboards knows that Brazil is one of the worlds top kiting destinations and that Brazil Kitesurfing holidays are a great way to explore this fantastic country. Its possible to find wind year round, but the strength and consistency various depending on the time of year. The windiest state is Ceara with the famous kite spots of Cumbuco, Paracuru, Ilha do Guajiru, Prea and Jericoacoara.

Most styles of riding are catered for with superb flat water locations. There are numerous spots along the vast Brazilian shoreline. Some of the best spots to hit are located close to the international airport of Fortaleza. From here you will find locations with consistent cross on shore wind. During June to December you are likely to get 8 out 10 days on the water with 25+mph winds.

The North East coastline of state of Ceara has started to become one of the main areas for kitesurfing in Brazil if not the world. Cumbuco is 40 minutes from the international airport of Fortaleza and is one of the main spots to surf, relax and unwind. From the small town you can head down wind to find the famous spot of Cauipe. This is one of the best lagoons to kitesurf on in the world. The lagoon attract professional riders, so take your camera!

Cumbuco can get crowded but it is perfect for learning. Taiba is a must if you want to hit some waves. It is a small town and has a great relaxed feel to it. Being Brazil, you are never too far away from a party or a lively bar. 2 hours north of Fortaleza is Ilha do Guajiru which is a new kite area becoming more and more popular due to the fantastic flatwater lagoon on Praia da Barra beach. Windy Addiction is a great kitesurf school in the area who also have a Pousada to stay in.

Other Brazilian kitesurfing destinations that are further South include Rio Grande do Norte, Sao Miguel de Gostoso, Bahia, Buraquino/Flamengo beach, Santa Catarina, Florianpolis/Iberaquera and Rio de Janiero, Praia do Tijuca. It is best to check with local businesses when its best time to kite and a good thing to remember that winter months in the South are from May – September, and summer in Florianopolis, a popular place to kite and party is great from December to early March, their spring and summer.
