Malaga is one of Spain’s favourite coastal cities, a popular holiday destination with plenty to do and see. The city is popular for its golden beaches, nightlife and rich cultural scene. The weather is warm all year round, and the sea inviting. So, what can you expect on a Malaga windsurfing trip?
Malaga has several beaches, and there are some good windsurfing spots around. Misericordia Beach, a semi-rural beach on the edge of town, is perhaps the best, with long stretches of empty sand and water. But windsurfing on Malaga’s own beaches tends to be a pass-time reserved for city locals: it’s hard to find a place to hire boards or get lessons in Malaga itself. That’s fine, though, as some of Spain’s best windsurfing is just a short hop away.
Tarifa is one of Europe’s star spots when it comes to anything involving water and wind. On the southernmost tip of the continent, Tarifa’s 7 km long beach lies on the Straits of Gibraltar, has several excellent spots. It’s not known as the ‘Capital of Wind’ for nothing, though. If you’re a beginner, it’s best to go elsewhere. But if you know how to handle a board, you’ll love Tarifa. Winds get up to 40 knots in summer, and there is often some enticing swell for wave sailors.
For those needing a slightly gentler ride, there are places across the Costa del Sol where you can get out on the water on a board. Travel along the coast to Torremolinos or Marbella, and you’ll find hire shops and lessons on offer.
Take a Malaga windsurfing trip and you’ll find a great choice of spots, reliable wind and warm water. It’s a hard-to-beat offer…
