Review of Kids and Juniors Bowstring Boots by Helly Hansen

I love going on walks with my kids so I wanted to get them some boots that are not only waterproof but also warm, comfy and easy for them to put on. Read this review of Kids and Juniors Bowstring Boots by Helly Hansen to find out how they got on.

We got a pair of these boots for both my nine and eleven year olds. After walking up hills and down dales, climbing trees and rocks, jumping in lots of puddles and wading through streams wearing them I thought who better to write the review of Juniors Bowstring boots then the boys themselves!

My eldest had just started secondary school and had homework to do. So I gave the task to my youngest. He says he wants to be a writer when he grows up, so this would be the first thing he has had published! This is in his own words with only very minor edits.

Hi I’m Coby and I’m 9 years old. Every walk I did in my Bowstring boots was another of wonderfulness and loveliness.

When I first got them they didn’t look comfortable or good. But when I put them on they were the opposite they were great.

I found out the boots are puddle proof by stepping in puddles. It is very fast at drying in the sun. The shoes have good grip when climbing hills. The boots fit perfectly on the ankle and are very comfortable on the feet.

It is very fun to walk in them. They are comfortable to walk in for very long distances, I’ve walked in them for 10 km. Their grip for climbing trees and steep muddy hills is very good.

I found they are easy to put on and take off. The Velcro is adjustable to my size.

At camping when I went into a deep stream they were doing their job and keeping my feet dry. Until it went over the top of the boots.

Dad’s review of Juniors Bowstring Boots

From my perspective these boots have been brilliant. They are far more comfortable than wellington boots with better grip etc. They don’t, unless not done up properly, get stuck in muddy puddles. And they are good for the kids to walk long distances without any foot pain.

Compared to laced up hiking boots they have been so much more convenient. The kids put them on themselves within seconds making leaving the house or getting changed at the car a breeze. Furthermore, the inevitable “there is something in my shoe,” is quickly fixed.

They are waterproof enough for puddles and streams. But they are only ankle high you cannot go as deep at wellies. They have been the go to footwear on camping holidays, worn as winter boots when I took the kids to ski in France, and have done a lot of walking on the South Downs.

To conclude this review of Kids and Juniors Bowstring Boots by Helly Hansen I’d say they are the perfect footwear to combine the best features of wellies with more comfortable hiking boots for kids.
