Spain Wakeboard guide

Wakeboarding is big news in Spain. The country is a natural wakeboard destination, with warm weather, calm seas and plenty of eager visitors. The country’s beach resorts are packed with sun-worshippers for months on end every summer. More and more of them are realising just how much fun is to be had on the water, as well as on the beach.

A Spain wakeboard trip offers plenty of options for people who want to get more out of a Mediterranean beach holiday. The long Mediterranean coast lends itself perfectly to wakeboarding, with calm waters and good tourist infrastructure. The wilder waters of the northern Atlantic coast are less well suited to wakeboarding, but those who want to get away from the Mediterranean can head to Spain’s inland lakes.

On the Mediterranean coast, all the larger tourist resorts will have a wakeboarding operator or two on hand. There are several cable wake parks too, including one in sophisticated Barcelona and one in the mega-resort of Benidorm. Despite its reputation as a booze-guzzling, sunbathing town, wakeboarding has really taken off in Benidorm and is one of the resort’s favourite sports. Its wake park is the only one in Spain on open sea.

Spain offers some gorgeous inland wakeboarding. Try the wakeboard camp at lovely medieval Caspe. It has the huge Mar de Aragon lake, a 100 km long artificial lake created for watersports, between Zaragoza and Barcelona.Or head to Almodavar del Rio, a lively lakeside town near Cordoba. There are many more. Spain’s forgiving climate means it’s easy to get out on the water.

Take a Spain wakeboard trip and enjoy warm water, great views and lots of fun!
