Cycling has so many disciplines that it’s easily the largest sports family. And among its relatives, there are plenty of practitioners breaking records and rolling out new stunts.

With cycling paths at the forefront of urban planning, and organisations dedicated to promoting cycling to the youngest of kids, it’s got to be the take-off sport of the millennium.

David Cameron does it, Daryl Hannah does it, Keifer Sutherland does it – when he’s not driving gas-guzzling black 4x4s. Even Arnie has been seen out of his Hummer and on two wheels.

If you think it’s just the off-roaders who make this an adventure sport, you’re wrong. Touring cyclists cover hundreds, if not thousands of miles: real adventure sports stars.
