The atmosphere is as warm as a family living room, but one with all the skydiving trimmings. There’s cosy carpeted indoor packing, space to lounge between loads, free Wi-Fi, a rigging loft, flat screen monitors for video review and shady picnic tables from which to watch the proceedings. In short, it’s the most family friendly dropzone you could imagine.
Traveling jumpers are welcome to camp on-site (and importantly, take a hot shower in the hangar). Experienced jumpers will be interested to know that Midwest Freefall is a full-time turbine DZ, and it boasts the highest lift capacity in the entire state.
Speciality
Sure, it’s an inviting home base for experienced skydivers working towards excellence in their chosen disciplines. But Midwest Freefall is also about welcoming new skydivers into the sport. The dropzone welcomes new tandem skydivers into the air every day and teaches new jumpers the ropes using the tried-and-tested Accelerated Freefall method.
Location
A private, grass-strip airfield in Ray Township of Macobe County, Michigan. The family friendly dropzone is conveniently located near the town of Romeo – just a short drive from the Detroit-metro Area, Windsor, Sarnia, Flint and Lansing.
Aircraft
A rare and beautiful Kodiak which can turn around a whopping four loads per hour all the way up to 14,000 feet.
Experienced jumper friendly?
Yes. Licensed skydivers are welcome. Even greenhorn jumpers will have no problem identifying the DZ’s large, grassy, obstacle-free landing areas. Current USPA membership is required.
